Applying False Eyelashes

How To Apply Fake Eyelashes?

Applying eyelashes is very easy once you have a bit of practice.

Although fake eyelashes are already known in the world of makeup for many decades now, they only became popular among ordinary people just recently. Before, old celebrities and Hollywood stars were known to use them to emphasize their eyes and give them a glamorous look. But now, more and more women opt to use fake eyelashes as a way to vamp their eyes. They are definitely a boon for ladies with short lashes.

There are several types of fake eyelashes that you can use to make your lashes look fuller, giving you a more dramatic look. Choose the ones that will give the most impressive effect to your eyes. It is very important to apply them correctly on your eyes. Do it with utmost care and patience. One wrong move and you get a disastrous look. You don’t want to mess up the work made by your makeup. Here are simple steps to follow.

Step 1: Prepare the Eyelashes

Frist, clean the eyelids. Free them from natural oils to easily make the eyelash adhesive stick on. If you want to put eyeshadow, then apply it first before putting the fake eyelashes.

Step 2: Trim the Fake Lashes

Trimming is done first before sticking the false lashes on the eyes. Your chosen fake eyelashes should not be wider than your eyes. Use small, sharp scissors when you do the trimming. Cut the lashes from the side that would go on the outside of the eye (not the side towards your nose.) The fake eyelashes should resemble your natural eyelashes which are shorter in length on the inner side of the eyes. Trim the fake ones in a way that they naturally fit your eyes.

Step 3: Stick Them On

It is best to use good quality glue when sticking the false eyelashes to the eyelids. Cheap glue may clump up and ruin the entire thing.  Squeeze out a small amount of glue on your fingertips then run it across the fake lashes. Do not apply the glue directly into the eyelids as it can get into and hurt the eyes during the process. On the other hand, you can use fake eyelashes with self-adhesive instead of using glue. You only need to learn how to apply self-adhesive fake eyelashes and avoid the trouble of using glue.

Step 4: Put the Fake Lashes

After applying with glue, wait for about a minute before sticking them on.  The glue should be sticky and tacky (not runny.) Pick the lash with tweezers and put it to the eyelids. Begin on the outer corner of the eye and then continue to the inner parts of the eyelids. Press the fake eyelashes to the eyelids as close as possible. Steady your arms by resting your elbows on a table as you work. Finish this procedure by masking the space between the fake eyelashes and the real ones with black eyeliner. Liquid eyeliner is best for this.

Step 5: Apply Makeup

With your beautiful eyelashes in place, it is time to finish your makeup. Curl your sky-high lashes and mask the spaces again by putting liquid eyeliner.

How to Remove the Fake Eyelashes

Dip a warm cloth in warm water and use it to carefully remove the fake lashes. The damp cloth helps peel the eyelashes easily as it softens the glue used on the lashes. Most eyelash glues are water-based, hence this method works effectively. You can also use petroleum jelly to soften the lashes. Do not pull the false eyelashes without softening them first. You might pull out some of your natural eyelashes, or worse, could damage the eyelids altogether.

Putting on fake eyelashes can take a lot of time and practice. You can do it as often as you like and the practice will help to make the process faster. While learning the basics steps, you can experiment with other types of false eyelashes for a more stunning makeup effect.
